International Women's Day 2019

Hi,
Today is 8th March 2019 which is International Women's Day, something which has inspired me this morning more than I was expecting. (Tbh I mainly want to document this to show myself how much this has provoked such intense and empowering thoughts.)

Today I feel inspired by some of the strongest women in my life, whether that is most of my school friends who are absolutely smashing it at some of the best universities in the country, my nan who has been through things that would kill most people yet is still bossing it aged 80, or some of the women that I work with who juggle working full time with bringing up their children.

Not only am I surrounded by such wonderful women, I have subconsciously began to follow people on Instagram and Youtube who are doing what I want to do in the future. Starting a business is exactly what I want to do, I understand that counselling is very different from a social media business, but seeing how these women have managed to build empires from their bedrooms seems insane to me. I pray that one day I can follow in their footsteps and start my own counselling practice which will hopefully save people in the same way that therapy saved me.

My biggest inspiration will always be my best friend Rhi, who had Hodgkins Lymphoma and passed away in November 2015. Watching her go through chemo, radiotherapy and a stem cell transplant, whilst still maintaining her sense of humour and providing undying positivity to all of us around her, is something I will never forget. As cheesy as it sounds, thinking about her fight will forever inspire me to do better and be better. I hope that one day I have a daughter who will listen to me talk about her and feel the same way.

To the strong women who I haven't already mentioned, to my mum who never fails to support me and always manages to have her shit together, to my sister who is the most badass 14 year old I've ever met, to my aunties, my cousins, girls I met on twitter during my The Wanted fangirl phase, old friends, teachers and everyone else who I may have forgotten. You've all inspired me and I am so grateful to be surrounded by such amazing women.

Em x
